What is the BMI?

What is the BMI? BMI stands for Body Mass Index.  It is a number calculated using an individual’s current height and weight. It provides an accurate account of that person’s body fat.

Technically, BMI is measured by dividing a person’s weight (measured in pounds) by their height (measured in inches). This number is then multiplied and squared by the conversion factor of 703.   It sounds more complicated than it actually is.

 In adults, the BMI categories are as follows: any number under 18.5 indicates a person who is underweight, 18.5- 24.9 indicates a normal weight range, 25.0-29.9 indicates a person who is overweight and any number above 30.0 indicates obesity.

There is a similar formula for calculating the BMI of children and teenagers, as well.

Two Of The Main Reasons That Diets Fail

When we make a decision to diet, we hope beyond hope that we are successful.  We long to be thin and healthier.  We dream of purchasing a ‘skinnier wardrobe’ and hearing our friends tell us how great we look.

 

Unfortunately, this is not always the outcome.  There are many reasons why diets fail. Two of the biggest reasons are not eating foods from all food groups and eating too few calories.

 

It is best to create your menu around each of the six food groups: fruits, vegetables, grains, oils, milk and meat /beans. Just remember to consume foods, in moderation.

 

Many dieters make the mistake of eating too few calories, in hopes of losing weight at a faster pace. This only makes you hungrier, which makes successful dieting that much harder.

Yes, it is important to exercise when you are dieting. How often you do so is completely up to you. So, it’s important to remember not to overdo it.

 

This happens frequently when people are just beginning to diet. Why? They want to lose weight FAST! Fast is not a good thing, when you diet.

 

One thing that is important when you exercise is remaining consistent as possible. Even if you only exercise 20 minutes per day, three days a week, it’s important to keep that schedule.

 

By starting out at a slower pace, you will find it more enjoyable. You don’t want to burn yourself out, just a few days after you begin.

 

Walking is actually one of the easiest ‘starter’ weight loss exercises. You don’t need expensive equipment and it will get you out in the fresh air.

this is the question i did ask my self on the moment of new year, i need a new me at the same time next year but more thiner and on shape in a skinny jeans size 10-12 will make me so happy!…

in general i am doing well in my diet and exercise the way to NewMe and i am happy from my progress, every thing have up and down .

but i am up to know up and motivated. i am doing my exercise up i could get in the minimum of 1000 cal per day.

any way today is my weight in for week 5 i am in my way to th GYM now . i started some PsP classes and i will start to do my own graphics for the site.

i did join Runner+ and i am really enjoying it ,i did join three challenges and today i am working to be no 1 or try to win the Starling Fitness Level 1 challenge, i am working on it .

new day anew weight in today …

i did on the cross trainer 60 min i burn 675 cal for the first time

and treadmill for 30 min i burn 350 cal

bike for 22 min burn 220 cal

so total of 1245 Cal i think i did a good work and i am happy from my self

the goal i set i working for it 10 pounds lighter by new year, yesterday i did two class’s of aerobics

a Fat Burning class that was to fast but i did enjoy it, next was Hi-Lo aerobics with a great lady for the UK and i did enjoy it.

here is my update this week was so busy week for my .. first i will start with my weight in of the week

its 243.8 lbs this morning, next news about me is joining ediets and joining the challenge The Ultimate Challenge my team is Looney Babes over there at ediets as well

Elliptical Cross Trainer

today i am so happy from my workout . i did  a great job.

my exercise was on life fitness Elliptical Cross Trainer its great with build in TV.

i did workout for 55 min with 5 min cool down thats burn total of 568.

the GYM time is great as it become a schedule in my day.

after that i did a fat burning class that count 500 Cal!
